Anxious? Overwhelmed? Come Calm Your Nervous System with Sound
Have you ever noticed how music can carry you away? In this workshop we’ll be discussing the energetics and meaning of sound, specifically chant and mantra. How can these tools be meaningfully integrated into your Yoga practice? After discussion, you’ll be guided through a practice intended to calm the nervous system – and the mind. Practice will end in time for Q&A. Uncomfortable with sanskrit? No fear! Laurie will offer other suggestions or you may come with your own. Chanting experience is not required and you are welcome to simply listen to the chant during class. Laurie will offer a private consultation at a reduced rate for those students wishing to develop a home practice that addresses their unique needs and goals.
Resilience for Brilliance
Resilience at all levels of our being is a key component of our wellness plan. Learn tools of Yoga Therapy to cultivate resilience. We’ll start by discussing why the ancients developed the practice of Yoga in the first place and how our resilience is undermined by common stressors that include poor diet, sleep, movement and thought patterns. Then you’ll be guided through a practice intended to build resilience using postures and breath adaptation that will prepare the body and mind for seated meditation and pranayama (breathing). Please come having thought about your own degree of resilience and what, specifically, has been holding you back from brilliance! Laurie will offer a private consultation at a reduced rate for students wishing to develop a home practice that addresses their unique needs and goals.
